Welcome to the dedicated progress page for Chayala’s Mikvah, where we share updates on our journey to bring this vision to life. Building Chayala’s Mikvah has been a dream filled with both inspiration and unexpected obstacles. Despite these challenges, our commitment to creating a space where women can rejuvenate, refresh, and recharge remains unwavering.

Challenges and Resilience
Since purchasing the building, we have faced unprecedented challenges, particularly with the eviction of an unauthorized occupant. Despite numerous legal and logistical hurdles, including a prolonged eviction process exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have persisted with determination and faith.

Timeline of Key Events

1. Purchase and Initial Obstacles: After purchasing the building, we discovered that it was occupied by an unauthorized resident. His refusal to vacate led to prolonged legal battles and significant delays.

2. COVID-19 Delays: The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic further delayed our progress. Court closures and a moratorium on evictions meant that our legal proceedings were put on hold, prolonging the timeframe for resolving the occupancy issue.

3. Legal and Halachic Struggles: Navigating both civil court and Din Torah processes, we faced numerous setbacks. Initially, we were called to a Din Torah at a Beis Din chosen by the occupant, but after careful consideration, we sought permission to take the case to civil court. The legal journey involved multiple hearings, negotiations, and attempts at mediation.

4. Final Eviction and Current Status: After extensive negotiations and legal efforts, we finally secured the building. The occupant was evicted following a protracted legal process, including the signing of a binding arbitration agreement. We are now in the process of finalizing architectural plans and obtaining necessary permits. With the building now vacated, we are closer than ever to beginning construction.

Moving Forward with Your Support
Despite these challenges, we are now closer than ever to breaking ground. Our architectural plans are nearly finalized, and we are preparing to start construction as soon as all permits are approved. However, we need your support to complete this project and realize our vision.
